History of Guardian
Allan and Sonya Borg began their work in home care in 2009 with a passion for providing Gold Standard care to seniors in the comfort and security of their own homes. They are proud of the relationships they have developed with seniors, families, and caregivers over the years. In 2025, their Minnesota care team was ranked #12 among the Top Workplaces for Small Businesses in Minnesota.
Guardian Senior Care, LLC in Watertown, South Dakota is a natural extension of Allan and Sonya’s passion for senior care and their longstanding connection to South Dakota. Allan’s father, Gene, grew up south of Willow Lake, and his mother, Doreen, grew up in Clark. Allan spent his summers on his grandparents’ farm, creating memories and a lifelong connection to the area.
After Allan and Sonya married and had children, their family continued to spend time in South Dakota with relatives and enjoying the outdoors. Allan has always considered the area home, and over the years, Sonya and their children developed that same connection. Purchasing a home here was a natural step for their family and marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
Watertown is a regional healthcare hub for families throughout Clark, Hamlin, and Codington Counties and the surrounding rural communities. Its central location provides an ideal base for Guardian Senior Care to bring quality care directly to seniors in their own homes, while keeping Allan and Sonya close to the family and community that means so much to them.
Today, Allan and Sonya are building Guardian Senior Care, LLC in Watertown, bringing their home-care experience and commitment to Gold Standard care to the communities they are proud to call home.
